Description
Local professionals in the performing arts will come together to teach workshops in their fields at Valley of the Flowers Church on Saturday, October 27, from 9am to noon. Those who attend can expect expert training and hands-on experience. During the three hours, attendees will have their choice of three workshops. Their choices include: • Star of the “Lezlie Show” on television, Lezlie Thoroddsson will teach “Puppetry and Ventriloquism” for ages 10 and up. • Local actor and PCPA graduate Jarrod Zinn will teach how to “Own the Stage” • LYT Choreographer Riley Ranjo will teach “Dance Combos and Techniques” • Local playwright and theatre professional Michelle Pittenger will teach “Write Your Starring Role.” Michelle will also teach a class in the vein of Hamilton called “You can be Epic” where attendees will create and perform their own slam poetry. • Local performer and comedy expert Zach Jackson will teach “Comedy” and “Improv.” This event is open to adults and children ages 5 and up; though where noted, some workshops are best appreciated by older attendees. Both Michelle Pittenger and Riley Ranjo have worked with children through LYT before. Lompoc Youth Theater personnel will attend all workshops not taught by previous LYT employees. The day of workshops costs only $30, and for an additional $10 attendees can also register for the Talent Competition! Interested participants should register immediately, because prices increase on October 1.
